Overview
The Administrative Review Tribunal (ART, formerly AAT) can review most visa refusal and cancellation decisions — but strict deadlines apply, often 21–28 days from notification. Early case analysis is the difference between a winnable review and a lost right.
Eligibility requirements
- A reviewable decision (most refusals/cancellations)
- Lodgement within the strict time limit
- Usually onshore with a bridging visa during review
Document checklist
- The refusal/cancellation decision record
- Complete original application file
- New evidence addressing the refusal reasons
- Submissions responding to each refusal ground
Frequently asked questions
Is every refusal worth appealing?
No. We first obtain and analyse the decision record: some refusals turn on fixable evidence gaps, others on findings unlikely to change. You get an honest prospects assessment and a fixed quote before deciding.
